Alternative solution
In accordance with OBC Clause 3.4.4.2.(2)(f), a fire separation is required between the exit through lobby and the adjacent exit stair. It is proposed to remove the closure (i.e. door) located between the east exit stair and the lobby on the ground floor. In lieu of the closure, this Alternative Solution proposes to provide an emergency access floor area (i.e. cross-over floor) and increased sprinkler protection via quick response sprinkler head within the elevator pit. This is also in consideration of the low fire-risk posed by the ground floor lobby.
