Alternative solution
As part of a previous renovation at the York Distillery, the original columns at the first storey have been replaced with heavy timber columns. A requirement of the 2012 Ontario Building Code for the distillery is to have a minimum fire-resistance rating of 1.5 hours for the columns and beams. The achievement of this level of performance is demonstrated through heavy timber analysis. Refer to attached letter prepared by Jensen Hughes dated May 26, 2016 for more details.
